The Daily: The Rise of Nationalism Across the Globe

For the first time outside the United States, The New York Times’s flagship audio show “The Daily,” — in collaboration with Intelligence Squared — presented a live conversation onstage in London.

Twenty minutes a day, five days a week, “The Daily,” The New York Times’s flagship audio show, explores the world’s biggest stories, with the world’s best journalists. Since its launch in 2017, “The Daily” has become one of the most downloaded podcasts in the world. For the first time outside the United States, The New York Times — in collaboration with Intelligence Squared — presented a live conversation onstage in London with “The Daily.”

The podcast’s host Michael Barbaro, a former Times political reporter, explored the uncertainty caused by Brexit and the global implications of the nationalist undercurrent currently sweeping across both Europe and the United States. Barbaro was joined by leading New York Times journalists, Berlin Bureau Chief Katrin Bennhold and London-based International Correspondent Ellen Barry.

Barbaro and producers from “The Daily” revealed how their team transforms the news into a compelling show that garners more than eight million dedicated listeners each month.

For the biggest stories of our time, told by New York Times journalists each weekday, listen to “The Daily.” You can find it at nytimes.com/thedaily or wherever you get your podcast.
