In November 2022, Benjamin Netanyahu returned to power in Israel after the fifth election in less than four years. Propped up by a bloc of far-right and ultra-religious parties, Netanyahu’s government is seen by many as the most extreme in Israeli history. 

For this installment of our new series, The Age of the Strongman, we’ll look to shed light on Netanyahu’s vision for the Middle East, his attempts to shape the judiciary and his ongoing policy of expanding the settlements in the West Bank. We will also interrogate the monumental shifts in Israeli politics that have taken place after October 7 and the initiation of the wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
